“Skrei, fresh cod from the Norwegian sea” tasting dinner, paired with Bodegas JEAN LEON D.O. Penedès

Our next dinner centres around Norwegian "Skrei" cod or, we should say, "the world’s best cod". To be able to fully appreciate the marvellous characteristics of this cod, here is its story. Between February and April when the cod reaches four or five years of age and has a weight of around 3 kilos, it swims from the icy waters of the Barents Sea towards the milder waters of the Lofoten islands to breed. Once the eggs have been fertilized, it returns to the Barents Sea. It is at this time when the fish are caught. Its fame springs from the characteristics of its flesh, which is fatty and delicious adapted to survive in the freezing Arctic waters, whilst being muscular and solid from its journey from the Arctic to the islands. On this occasion all dishes will be paired with Bodega Jean Leon wines, which come from the heart of Penedés and combine tradition with the most modern production techniques. It is recognized as being one of the first wineries in Spain to ferment white wines in the same oak barrel.
